Duane's unique style has been shaped by his love of the Eastern High Sierra High Country where he lives, and he is often seen by the side of rural roads, mountain lakes and rushing streams painting his beloved Sierra.
He has exhibited his art everywhere from the dusty Main Street of Calico ghost town,Calif, to participation in the annual Death Valley Invitational Art Show, one of the nation's oldest western art shows.
Duane spent over fifteen years studding with the internationally famous mountain artist and good friend Robert Clunie, and also studied with the successful artist / composer Aim Morhardt.
His work has been commissioned for the theme decor in several area businesses, and is shown in galleries thought the country.
Duane works in several media: oil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, egg temper, pastel and computer art.
While Duane has done studies of Zion National Park, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Jackson Hole, Wyo., his specialty remains the Eastern High Sierra.
Duane has said "The Western landscape is deeply embedded in the fiber of his being. Growing up in the Ownes Valley has always had an impact on the art I create. I strive to show a reverence for the land and its beauty. The High Sierra is large and slow, a lifetime of painting could only begin to touch upon its mystery and subtlety, and it is upon this premise that I make my life's work".Duane accepts requests for commissioned artwork.
